Amana Woolen Mill | Handcrafted Products Made In America

In 1843 a group of German immigrants left their home, settled first in Ebenezer, New York, USA and then in 1855 traveled to the fertile Iowa River valley where they established a communal settlement on 26,000 acres. Calling their new American home, Amana, they built seven villages where they practiced their faith, farmed, and built craft shops and mills to provide life's necessities, textile mills, cabinet and clock shops, meat shops and smokehouses, flour mills and bakeries. Living communally, each member contributed his or her particular skill and worked for the common good of the community. They valued a simple way of life, hard work and fine craftsmanship. The depression, coupled with rapidly changing times compelled the Amana Society to end their communal way of life and reorganized into a privately held corporation. This is known as the Great Change of 1932. Today the Amana Woolen Mill, produces the finest made blankets, wool, cotton, baby, scarves, plaids, bed roll, fleece with quality all Made in the USA that surpasses the tests of time!
