Vesco Metal Craft (VMC) was established in 1994 by Neil Vesco as a part-time custom metal fabrication shop intended to help pay for his college expenses. Neil's racing background, 2 years as a mechanic and fabricator for Russell Racing School before working at Dan Gurney's 'All American Racers'(AAR) for another 2 years as a Mechanic & fabricator on AAR's Indy Car Team, made it natural for the majority of his fabrication work to be racing related. Working out of a rented building that Neil shared with a friend and utilizing his dad Tom's tools and equipment, Neil soon had a loyal following of customers seeking his highly regarded fabrication talent and welding expertise. The main focus of his business was 'formula' style race car chassis, custom one-off motorcycle frames and a myriad of custom sheet-metal work.
In 2002, Neil attended a business meeting with wheelchair manufacturer Colours N' Motion and met Mike Box who explained that he built Quad Rugby chairs after normal business hours and needed help completing back-orders. Neil commuted between San Diego to Colours in Los Angles helping Mike until finally taking over his backlog of new orders when Mike became too busy. Neil built only one chair using Mike's frame design. He collaborated with his father to create a totally new chair design that would deliver an unprecedented level of performance. The operation and production for VMC was moved into Tom's home garage. Metal fabrication was a lifetime hobby for Tom and his collection of tools and metal working equipment rivaled most shops.
